Lexus has a strong reputation for reliable luxury, no question there.

But where’d this V6 making 300 plus horsepower IS 350 come from, and why. Perhaps the LFA was done to put those who might question Lexus’s ability to build a performance vehicle in check.

Equipped with a 3.5-liter 306-hp V6 engine as well as a six-speed transmission and thanks to the engine’s valve timing, which is continuously adjusted to provide optimum power, the IS 350 provides exceptional performance and enhanced fuel economy at any speed, as attested by the 20city/27hwy mpg.

This direct injected Lexus IS 350 hits 0-60mph in just 5.6 seconds and with AWD, well you can imagine the look on your passengers face when they get a taste of precision meets performance. The AWD is new for 2011, it used to only be available on the IS 250.

Luxury Features of the Lexus IS 350

Lexus IS 350 features including electronic power steering, a tilt and telescoping steering column, a power tilt and slide moon roof, power windows and power locks, cruise control, dual zone automatic climate control, a trunk with 13.3 cubic feet of luggage space as well as a trunk pass through, a leather trimmed interior including leather trim on the steering wheel and IS F shift knob (optional), ten way driver and passenger power seats that allow for adjustments up, down, backwards, forwards as well as a lumbar feature.

Lexus IS Convertible

The 13 speaker sound system that you can neglect in favor of having the top down while listening to the tires grip you through the turns. Lexus IS 350C has a retractable hardtop that operates in only 21 seconds, add 6 seconds for the 0-60mph and you are off and running in less than 30 seconds with the top down.

Safety Features

All Lexus IS 350’s are equipped with a Direct Tire Pressure Monitor System, Electronic Breakforce Distribution, Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management, Vehicle Stability Control, four wheel power assisted disc brakes, break assist, and an advanced airbag system that includes knee-height airbags.

But owning a luxury vehicle does not mean that you have to give up ecological savvy. Not only does the Lexus IS 350 have the excellent mpg, but all 2011 IS models will carry Ultra-Low Emission Vehicle certification from the EPA. Gasoline is injected directly into the engine’s combustion chamber for better power and improved mileage, so you can have your cake and eat it too.

Brake Override Feature For All 2011 Lexus Models

Lexus has announced that the 2011 Lexus gas models will all get the brake override system.  This will activate when the driver depresses on both the gas and brake pedals at the same time under certain conditions, reducing the engine speed.

This modification will become available on 2011 models that will be arriving at dealerships late summer and early fall.  This is in addition to the other changes that were announced recently about the Lexus IS model changes for 2011.  There are quite a few changes so if you’re in the market you may want to come down and learn about all of them, from color changes to some interior feature changes, to 2011 Lexus Model and option package enhancements.

Lexus has announced some 2011 Lexus IS 250 and Lexus IS 350 model year product changes and price announcements. Some of the most notable being the all-wheel drive option for the Lexus IS 350, and the optional F Sport package for the Lexus IS 350.

Lexus IS 250 – Lexus IS 350

The Lexus IS model has received some revised styling changes along with an all-new Lexus IS 350 300hp and AWD model as well as a new optional factory F sport package. This combination is very exciting because it’s the first time the Lexus IS 350 has been available in all-wheel-drive.

For the 2011 Lexus IS 250 – the one thing that has not changed is the base MSRP! This focus on enhancing the IS 250 model making it more attractive and competitive in the luxury car market without increasing its price is a big win for Lexus customers.

For the first time the Lexus IS will be the first to offer the factory F Performance sport package on RWD A/T models. This replaces the 2010 sport package and a superior value and improved performance.

The F Sport inspired package gets 18 inch F Sport wheels with dark super chrome finish (your choice of summer or all season tires) front lip and rear deck spoilers, F Sport fender badge, and upper lower grille inserts.

Lexus IS 350 AWD Option Is Finally Here!

Perhaps one of the most exciting updates being the option of all-wheel drive for the IS 350. At around 300 hp, the Lexus IS 350 AWD is an awfully nice feature to tack on. This now gives a significant power advantage over Mercedes-Benz C 300, Audi A4 2.0 L Quattro AWD, and provides good competition to the BMW 328xi and 335xi.

The all-new 2010 IS C is also the first-ever IS Convertible. A power-retractable three-piece hardtop folds into the trunk in a mere 20 seconds, faster than any other vehicle in its class. Sharing few exterior components with the IS sedan, the IS Convertible has a striking silhouette, top up or top down.

IS 250 C models offer a 2.5L V6 engine with direct fuel injection for great performance and excellent fuel efficiency. The IS 350 C features a 3.5L V6 with both direct and port fuel injection, allowing it to produce 306 horsepower for outstanding performance. Both engines have dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) for improved performance and fuel efficiency.

The IS 250 C is equipped with a standard six-speed manual transmission. A six-speed automatic with paddle shifters is available on the IS 250 C and standard on the IS 350 C.

A double-wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension are specifically tuned for the IS C. Standard 17-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels and available 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels are also unique to the IS C. Combined with rear-wheel drive, the IS C was designed to offer excellent handling balance.

Inside, a climate-control and audio system are optimized for top-up or top-down driving. Heated and ventilated front seats with perforated leather are also available to help keep you comfortable no matter the weather.

On the technology front, a newly available HDD Navigation System with voice command can understand casual speech. A mid-year update brings several new technologies to the IS C, including Safety Connect™, plus an available next-generation Navigation System with voice command and Lexus Enform™. Available XM® services include XM® Radio, XM NavTraffic®, XM NavWeather™ and XM® Sports and Stocks. Audio is enhanced with a standard USB input as well as Bluetooth® audio connectivity for compatible music players, including iPod®.

Alabaster, Black and a unique two-tone Blue/Alabaster interior are offered in standard premium leather or available semi-aniline leather. Dark gray bird’s eye maple is available. Seven exterior colors are offered, including a new Cerulean Blue Metallic, plus Tungsten Pearl, Starfire Pearl, Smoky Granite Mica, Obsidian, Matador Red Mica and Ultrasonic Blue Mica.
