Lexus RX Drivetrain Specs

The 2011 Lexus RX 350 comes in either all-wheel-drive (AWD) or front-wheel drive (FWD). Each delivers a level of driving quality and perfection that many expect of such a vehicle. Whether it’s summer driving or winter excursions to the slopes, the Lexus RX 350 delivers a fairly consistent and relaxing experience.

RX Transmission

Six-speed automatic Electronically Controlled Transmission (ECT). Lexus technology exists to give the driver the sensation that everything is smooth, intuitive and silent. There would never be any reason to think otherwise because the sounds and mechanics of the drivetrain are not on your radar, and they shouldn’t be.

Manual Shift and Snow modes

Perhaps just having the confidence that your Lexus is about as sporty and plush as any is enough, but nonetheless you can experience it first hand when you really need it. Driving in poor weather conditions can be stressful and distracting, leading to a less than positive outlook. It’s listening to the crisp sound of your Mark Levinson audio system that soothes you into a state of pleasure regardless of the weather and where you may rather be.

RX 350 Front Wheel Drive

Not everyone needs the extra power to all four wheels, so FWD is plenty good for many driving conditions.

RX 350 AWD – Drive Wheels

The RX 350 AWD is not just the capability of getting around in poor weather conditions, it’s the sensation of having extra handling and control.

Active Torque Control

The all-wheel-drive version will feature an Active Torque Control AWD system that optimizes torque depending on driving conditions, resulting in improved efficiency and performance.

Variable Torque Split

Variable Torque Split will apply more torque at times of need, as opposed to having a standard AWD ratio of front to rear wheels. If you have a 60/40 split meaning 60 percent is sent to the front wheels, then with the VTC you may see the ratios adjust under different driving conditions.
